When I set up this blog, I was inspired to use almond branches as the background. I don’t pretend to know the full meaning of the choice. Here is an article of what it might mean: The Almond Tree: The Symbol of Resurrection Life. Within the article, it says, “It means that however low we have sunk, and however pitiful and shell-shocked a condition we are in, God still sees us as His Betrothed Bride in all the beauty and potential He prophetically declared over us at Sinai.” This is a fitting theme for a blog that seeks to remind us of our innocence.
The LORD commanded that the branches of the lamp stands in the temple be made in the form of almond blossoms with their bulbs and flowers. (Exodus 25:31-40)
In Numbers 17, the story is told of how the LORD used an almond branch to prove to Israel that Aaron was His chosen priest.
Begin with the definitions. It isn’t as complicated as some might think.
Jeremiah 1:11-12 (NKJV)
(11) Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.”
(12) Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.”
